Centipedes have brownish red bodies and have between 15 to 177 pairs of legs between each segment of their bodies. Their average lifespan can range from anywhere between two to five years. They can get into tough spaces very well and can even evade predators, but we assure you they cannot hide from us. Centipedes usually hide in the dark where it is moist and away from other things, such as under logs and rocks, deep in the ground. They also love environments that are wet as well as in rotting wood where there is a chance for them to eat other smaller bugs. Centipedes like to eat worms and spiders and can fish out their prey with their antennae. They sting their prey with a paralyzing venom so they cannot get away. Centipedes do bite and can cause swelling and much pain pretty similar to a bee sting. They can get through small cracks around the foundation of your home. Typically you will find them around basements or bathrooms, and they are sometimes tough to spot. The most common pest to invade homes is the centipede. They can hurt you and your home, so call us today to have them exterminated!
